Glimpse into My Home Studio

I’d like to give you a little peek inside my little home studio where all of JaneWear Jewelry is created…
We moved into this beautiful 1940′s two-story home when my wonderful husband and I were married last summer. We fell in love with this place immediately because of its cozy and inviting nature. I am itching to paint every room (and tear off all of that old wallpaper) to give it our own touch, but that process is on hold until next summer.
So for now, I spend my studio time in this spare bedroom with baby pink walls and a princess border. I can’t wait to splash it with my own vivid colors (as vivid as my hubby will agree to anyway) to boost my creativity time!
I am so lucky to have 2 long counter-top tables which give me ample space, along with plenty of filing cabinets and storage space, which already have found themselves full! You can see my little companion, Maggie, stretching out next to my little space heater. Maggie is our 4 month old miniature Austrailian Shepherd, and she’s proven herself a wonderful listener and loves to lay right under my feet as I work. Though she has quickly learned to stay away from the rollers on my chair when I start flying around and really pumping out the jewelry!
I just love being able to stay at home, take care of my family, and getting to play in my jewelry metals! This “job” of jewelry artist has allowed me more freedom and peace at heart than any other job I’ve held. It’s more fun than I can explain!

My First Radio Commercial!

JW Commercial: I’m proud to announce my first ever radio commercial! Playing on KMMO radio across mid-Missouri for the next few weeks, I have high hopes that it will be a good advertising tool for my small business. Working from my home studio, I’m finding it difficult to get my name out there for people to view my pieces. I do alot of advertising on Etsy.com and try to post to other’s blogs as I go. We’ll see how helpful this ad will be in the next few weeks!
Hope you’re all having a lovely day! My day is going well… bright and sunny and just a little on the cold side, but I have my little heater going near my feet as I work, so all is well!

Choker Necklaces

I’m thinking about trying to work out some choker necklaces! Not sure what they will turn out like… but I’m making some initial sketches and brainstorming thoughts. Definitely will be working with silver, and may even try copper with this one.
I’ve seen a lot of ladies wearing chokers lately, some are just weird looking and some are really cute! Maybe add some charms… something dangly… I guess we’ll see what comes out. Nothing wrong with trying something new! Right now I’m sketching a choker with soldered hearts and flowers for Valentine’s Day…
New Ideas for 2010

I’m not really a gal who makes resolutions for the new year, but lately I have been thinking about what new jewelry ideas would be fun to try!
This year I’d love to learn the techniques for working with copper… so you may see some copper creeping into my work here and there in the next few months! I’ve had a lot of people ask me what other metals I use other than silver. While I LOVE working with and wearing silver, I’d also love to discover what new adventures come along with copper! So I guess we’ll see… and hopefully soon!
I also plan to share more of myself along with my displays of my newest work this year. So many changes have happened in my life these last few months that have re-shaped my thinking and crafting process! All for the better so far!
My family and I have had a wonderful start to our new year, even though many challenges have rapidly found their way into our home. But we are in constant prayer that God will turn our challenges into His masterwork of blessings!
